How We Ranked On Google Page 1 for “SEO Agency Singapore” Against Million-Dollar Competitors
We built SEO With Senthil from scratch and ranked against Singapore’s longest established SEO agencies without spending a single dollar on ads.

SEO With Senthil is a Singapore-based SEO consultancy helping local businesses rank on Google and generate leads and sales from organic search.
The agency is led by Senthil, an SEO strategist with 10+ years of experience growing businesses through search. He is joined by Rohith, a technical SEO specialist with 6 years of agency experience ensuring flawless technical execution on every client project.
Before SEO With Senthil took on any client, the methodology had already been proven across Senthil’s own businesses. This case study documents how we applied the same approach to our own agency’s website.
SEO Challenges Hindering SEO With Senthil’s Growth
1. Competing against long-established, well-resourced agencies
“SEO agency Singapore” is searched 2,400 times a month on Google. The agencies already ranking for it had been building their domain authority for years. Some had been around for over a decade. As a brand-new website with no backlink profile, no reviews, and no case studies, we were starting from zero in one of the most competitive local search categories in Singapore.
2. A technically limited website on Squarespace
The site launched on Squarespace, which restricted our ability to implement critical technical SEO elements, particularly local schema markup properly. Without it, Google had no structured way to understand our business, location, or services.
3. No social proof on the website
There were no client reviews, no case studies, and no credibility signals on the site when we launched. For a service business selling SEO, this was a significant barrier to converting visitors into enquiries.
4. SEO was never the intended acquisition channel
SEO With Senthil started as a platform to launch an SEO course for business owners looking to learn SEO without getting overwhelmed. The content was written to educate that audience, not to attract busy business owners searching for an SEO agency on Google. Hence, there was no strategy around commercial keywords, search intent, or the type of comprehensive coverage that ranks.
5. Thin content diluting site authority
Because the content was built for quick consumption, most pieces were intentionally brief, pointing readers to external sources rather than providing depth on the site itself. This left the site with thin pages linking out to competitors and consuming crawl budget without contributing to any rankings.
6. No backlink profile and close to no budget for it
Building domain authority as a new site requires backlinks from credible, high-DA sources. At launch we had none, and we had close to no budget to partner with reputable media publications or established websites for a quick credibility boost. Every high-quality backlink had to be earned.
What We Did
1Deleted underperforming content and redirected it strategically
Rather than leaving low-performing pages to drag down overall site quality, we deleted underperforming content and redirected those URLs to our strongest, most relevant pages. This concentrated Google’s attention on the content that deserved to rank.
2Created the most comprehensive “SEO agencies in Singapore” listicle in the market
This was the centrepiece of our content strategy. We researched and wrote a detailed, genuinely useful “SEO agencies in Singapore” listicle comparing Singapore’s top SEO agencies, including real pricing, actual services offered, and honest assessments. No other agency had done this. Most were too guarded about the competitive landscape to publish direct comparisons.
We built the article around Google’s E-E-A-T guidelines, demonstrating real experience and expertise throughout. Over time we continuously improved it — adding custom infographics, FAQ sections, Singapore-specific grant information for businesses eligible for government funding, and regular updates to keep it current. The result was the most useful resource on this topic in Singapore, and Google rewarded it accordingly.
3Built out high-quality supporting content around secondary keywords
We wrote well-researched articles targeting adjacent business and SEO topics — lessons from Tony Robbins’ Business Mastery, the best link building agencies internationally, the best free SEO training resources online, and how to apply Google’s E-E-A-T framework to improve rankings. Each piece reinforced the topical authority of the site and brought in relevant organic traffic.
4Migrated from Squarespace to WordPress
To unlock the full technical SEO toolkit, we moved the site to WordPress. This gave us the flexibility to implement schema markup properly, improve site architecture, and build a more structured, crawlable website.
5Implemented local schema, FAQ schema, and review schema
Once on WordPress, we implemented all missing schema types. This included local business schema to help Google understand who we are and where we operate, FAQ schema to capture featured snippet opportunities, and review schema to surface credibility signals directly in search results.
6Pulled Google reviews onto the website and added case studies
We integrated our Google My Business reviews onto the site using Trust Index, giving visitors immediate social proof without leaving the page. We also built out dedicated case study pages for clients including Floristique and Sunday Bedding, turning real client results into proof of methodology.
7Added a brand story video to increase engagement and enquiries
We incorporated an engaging brand story video to give visitors a direct, personal reason to reach out. Video increases time on page, reduces bounce rate, and helps prospective clients build trust with the people behind the agency before they even reach out.
8Cleaned up the sitemap and internal navigation
We restructured the sitemap to ensure Google could crawl and index the site efficiently, and improved internal navigation to guide both users and search engines toward the most commercially important pages.
9Secured features on 10+ business and marketing podcasts
We pursued podcast appearances as a dual-purpose strategy — building brand credibility and earning high-quality backlinks from relevant marketing and business platforms. These included the eCommerce Marketing Podcast hosted by marketing expert Arlen Robinson, and more than ten other business and marketing shows. Many of these features came with credible backlinks to our website.
