The Skool Games 2025 Review: Should You Compete?

What is The Skool Games?

The Skool Games is a competition where founders of paid Skool communities compete with each other to make the most new monthly recurring revenue on Skool. Winners stand to win attractive prizes!

While The Skool games took place every month when it first started, it has now been updated to take place every quarterly.

Is The Skool Games legit?

Yes, The Skool Games is 100% legit with attractive prizes to be won by top Skool community creators. In case you still think The Skool Games is a scam, below is a screenshot of Alex Hormozi, Sam Ovens and Andrew Kirby at the Quarter 1 opening ceremony of The Skool Games 2025.

How much does The Skool Games cost?

Just like the Skool platform (that I wrote about in my brutally honest Skool review here), The Skool Games has a 14 day free trial period. After the 14 day free trial, The Skool Games does not cost anything extra, apart from the $99 per month cost of creating and running a community on Skool.

However, you need to start a paid community (not a free one) if you want to participate in the Skool Games.

Problems encountered with The Skool Games

  • People were winning the Skool Games by doing a “Pump and Dump”

    • “Pump and Dump” refers to active and aggressive selling for 30 days, not keeping customers happy, and losing customers after the 30 day window (churn).

  • Most Skool Games participants and winners did not focus on retention.

    • Building a community and a business generating monthly recurring revenue is all about retention.

  • People were charging $999/month as an unethical strategy to win the Skool Games.

    • For example, some told their members to pay $999 for the first month and then cancel their membership (But still get membership perks for the rest of the year.)

    • A few told their members to pay $999 (for them to win the Skool Games), only to offer their members a full refund later.

  • Communities under the business (money making) category were dominating communities in other categories like hobbies.

  • Super high value Skool Games prizes (Cybertruck or $100k) made people go insane.

    • Some competitors of the Skool Games didn’t sleep for days just to win.

To tackle these problems, the Skool Games has been updated for 2025 and beyond as described below.

The Skool Games 2025 Updates and Prizes

  • Quarterly 90 day challenges (instead of 30 day challenges) that factors in churn. Churn rates will now be displayed in red.

    • It is difficult to compete insanely hard for 90 days in a row.

    • If someone joins your membership and then leaves after 1 month, you will no longer have an advantage to win the Skool Games. Hence, communities will focus more on retention.

    • This update will encourage people to build more sustainable businesses. You cannot build a scalable business with strong foundations in 30 days. Even 90 days is short to build a scalable business.

  • $100/month price limit to compete in the Skool Games

    • According to data from Skool, the healthiest, longest lasting communities were pricing at less than $100/month.

    • So even if you were charging more than $100/month, only $100 is accounted as part of your revenue per sale in the Skool Games.

    • E.g. If you have a $500/month community, you can still compete in the Skool Games. But only $100 will count towards the games.

    • People can no longer use unethical strategies to win the Skool Games.

  • 6 categories to give non business people a chance to win. Categories include:

    • Business

    • Hobbies

    • Music

    • Health

    • Personal Development

    • Affiliates

  • More wholesome prizes than the Skool Games in the past. All winners get

    • An all expense paid trip to the new Skool event in Los Angeles, California and Skool HQ: This includes flights, hotel, all meals, transportation and entertainment.

    • A day with Alex Hormozi.

    • Physical prizes (with your name engraved) presented by Sam Ovens and Alex Hormozi at an awards ceremony.
